BIO
I am a Helsinki-based folk musician and a music teacher. My musical journey began with classical violin studies, and in 2013 I continued to professional studies, focusing on folk fiddle.
In addition to Finnish folk music, I am inspired by various other musical traditions, especially Irish and North American fiddle playing. Irish tradition has indeed been an important part of my life for nearly two decades, first through dancing and later through playing. I am fascinated by the connection between dance and music, and often find myself researching the topic in my studies, teaching or artistic work.
I am currently working as a freelance musician, a fiddle teacher and an occasional dance teacher. I am a member of several contemporary trad/folk/pop bands: Lapua-Uusi-Guinea, Mikkels Sons and Solisee and also research the connection between fiddle playing and percussive movement through my solo project Polkuja.
